Juanita Williams Armbrister has been an advocate for children for over 25 years holding various positions that served children and families. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Clothing and Retailing from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and B.S. degree in Home Economics Education from the University of Maryland.   She taught Home Economics (which included Child Development) to middle and high school students which sparked her interest in the need for quality care and education for children in their earliest years.

Juanita has over 15 years of federal service working with the United States Navy Child Development Program as served as a Child Care Center Director in San Diego, California, a Family Child Care Director in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and in Annapolis Maryland, and as a child development specialist in Washington D.C.   Juanita eventually became the program manager for the entire Navy Child Development Program, which took her on travels around the world.  Her efforts in the Navy program and also in all military child development programs were recognized by President William Clinton as he honored the military program “A Model for the Nation” in April 1997.

Juanita has served as a Senior Analyst with  the Department of Children and Families in Broward, Senior Director of School Readiness and Special Projects with the Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Dade and Monroe counties, and since 2007, she has been employed by Florida State University Center for Prevention, Early Intervention Policy  providing  technical assistance to their quality initiatives for court involved pregnant and parenting teenagers and their children in the dependency and delinquency systems.

She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the National Black Child Development Institute and the Miami CARATS, Inc.,  and The Historic St. Agnes Episcopal Church in Overtown.  She is a member of the St. Cecelia’s Order of the Daughters of the King and the Vice President of the Rainbow Day Care Center Board of Directors.  Juanita is married to Lt. Col. Anthony Armbrister (USMC Retired), Vice President and COO of The BAE Company, LLC.
