Joyce Hunter

Government Relations and Health Information Technology Contractor

Ms. Hunter has dedicated her career to addressing the increasingly complex demands on the federal and commercial health community. As a Health Information and Health Benefits Exchange specialist, Joyce provides industry intelligence, policy evaluation and analysis, business development support, organizational change management assistance, and strategy development.

Joyce is a former board member of the National Capital Area Chapter of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), a former Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP) participant and member of the HHS S&I Framework Query Health Workgroup and a grant reviewer for the Broadband Technology Opportunity Program (BTOP). She is also a board member of SHIRE, a member of the National Association of Social Insurance (NASI) and a technology advisor for the Baltimore County Community College Health Information Technology program. Joyce participated on the Maryland Health Care Commission Task Force to Study Health Information Exchange and contributed to the final document for the Governor.

Joyce was also a subcommittee chairperson for the Industry Advisory Council (IAC) that studied the impact of healthcare costs in 2007, before it became popular or funded. Ms. Hunter has written articles for Advanced Information Technology for Healthcare Executives, published white papers titled “Aging and Health IT” and the”Impact of Healthcare on the US Economy” (producing a Maryland Cable channel program on the same subject).

Ms. Hunter earned a BA from Villanova University, an MBA in Marketing from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business, has a certificate in Emotional Intelligence, is a Wharton Fellow and earned recognition in 2011 as a recipient of the Joseph A. Wharton award.
