Tony Armbrister serves as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of The BAE Company, a Health Management consulting firm that specializes in research, evaluation, strategic planning, business development and executive direction. In this capacity, he works to ensure efficient operation of company’s day-to-day activities and that the highest standards of quality are attained.

A skilled administrator and manager, he has extensive experience in managing large projects and completing complex tasks. He served as the Regional Director of the South Central Office of the Florida Comptroller from April 1999 to March 2003. As Regional Director, he was responsible for managing and directing the Florida Department of Banking and Finance’s activities and operations in Broward County. He has also served as project director of two grant-funded programs (Ford Foundation and AmeriCorps) that assisted disadvantaged youth in attaining their educational, vocational, and career goals. Since his return to South Florida in 1999, he remains involved in various initiatives in support of our youth and veterans.

He served 24 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His tours of duty included combat in Vietnam, command assignments from platoon to battalion-level, and as a leadership instructor at the U.S. Naval Academy. He retired from the Marine Corps in 1990 following a tour as the Executive Officer, Marine Barracks, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

In January 2003, Colonel Armbrister was appointed Commissioner, Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs by Governor Jeb Bush and served in that position until June 2008.

Lieutenant Colonel Armbrister earned a B.S. degree in political science from Florida A&M University (’69) and has done extensive graduate work in education at the University of Memphis; human resource development at Johns Hopkin University; and public administration at Pepperdine University.
